Limoncello Cake
When life gives you lemons… make a cake!
I know, thats our answer to everything! This special order Limoncello cake came to us with the specific instruction that it could not be too sweet - which usually scares me - but it ended up being one of my favorites! American buttercream is known for being cloyingly sweet compared to it’s Swiss counterpart and this wonderful Italian family wanted a very traditional birthday cake in that respect for their Mom’s 60th birthday.
We designed the cake to deliver the slightly sour notes of lemon, and used a mascarpone cheese icing to keep the sweeter elements subtle. Finished off with a chocolate glaze, flowers, lemons, and, macarons (created in France by an Italian chef so it still counts), this cake will surely make you appreciate any lemons life throws your way.
